Tuition, Scholarships & Financial Aid

This scholarship is our highest academic recognition, designed to reward students with exemplary achievement and a commitment to leadership and service. Academic scholars are invited to meet the Director of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives and the Assistant Head of School for Academics to explore a vibrant course of personalized study, our Diploma with Distinction Program, and potential Diocesan Scholar program where students can take classes at local universities. For consideration, students must complete the HSPT at Merion Mercy. Admission applicants are automatically considered for academic scholarships; no separate application is required. Scholarships will be awarded in mid-November.

Alumnae scholarships are awarded to daughters of Merion Mercy graduates. For consideration, qualified applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement and commitment to Mercy core values. Attracting legacy students is vital not only for maintaining a sense of tradition and continuity but also for fostering a deeper connection between the past and present, enriching the educational experience for both the students and Merion Mercy as a whole. Mercy scholarships are highly competitive awards for students with academic potential and a commitment to the tradition of empowering women to pursue their highest potential through lifelong learning, compassionate service and responsible leadership in a global society. Are you passionate about art? Join our community and share your talents, originality and potential by applying for the S. Ethel Sweeney Fine Arts Scholarship. Applicants will create a piece inspired by our Core Values as well as submit some of their favorite works!  Apply by filling out this application by November 3, 2023.

Both prospective and current families may apply for financial aid beginning September 1, 2023. 

Prospective families will be notified of their award decision when they receive their daughter’s acceptance package. Families unable to meet the November 3rd deadline for applying may be placed on a financial aid waiting list.

Current families receiving aid are required to apply annually.  Aid will only be applied to a student’s enrollment contract if the renewal process is complete and the current year’s tuition is up-to-date. 

No. A merit scholarship is based on specific achievements that a student has demonstrated. A student receiving a merit scholarship may still apply for financial aid.

Families apply online through Financial Aid Student Tuition (FAST), which is operated by Independent School Management. FAST analyzes the information provided on the application as well as the prior year's tax returns. The current year's tax returns must be submitted when they are available.

Financial need is defined as the difference between MMA’s tuition and the family’s ability to pay. The ability to pay is reported to MMA by FAST after FAST receives and reviews the application. Major factors affecting the family’s ability to pay include assets (including but not limited to home equity and retirement savings), liabilities, and family size. 

FAST also makes allowances for standard living expenses and taxes. In addition, MMA’s Financial Aid Committee offers input in these decisions.

Families apply using the Financial Aid Student Tuition (FAST) form. The cost to submit this form is a non-refundable fee of $53. 

As part of the application, you will be asked to scan and upload your previous year's tax returns to the FAST website. Both Federal and State tax returns and supporting documents must be submitted, as well as all W2/1099 income statements. All current year tax returns should be uploaded when available.

Financial aid awards are made on a yearly basis. Families requesting financial aid are required to submit applications each year. Families are encouraged to inform the school if their financial circumstances change. Your initial financial package will remain the same unless your family circumstances dramatically change.
